David and Goliath

In the green hills near Bethlehem, there lived a young boy named David.

David's job was to take care of his father's sheep. He loved them very much.

While watching the sheep, David would sing songs to God. His voice was beautiful!

David was small, but he was brave. He protected his sheep from lions and bears!

'God gives me strength,' David thought. 'I can do anything with His help.'

One day, David's father Jesse called him home. 'David, I have an important job for you!'

'Your brothers are fighting in King Saul's army,' said Jesse. 'Take them this food.'

David walked and walked until he reached the Valley of Elah. Two armies faced each other!

David found the Israelite soldiers. But something was wrong. They all looked afraid!

Then David heard it. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. Giant footsteps shook the ground!

A GIANT soldier stomped into the valley! His name was Goliath, and he was HUGE!

'Send someone to fight me!' Goliath roared. 'Or are you all too scared?'

All the soldiers trembled. Even King Saul was afraid. No one would fight the giant.

'Why is everyone so afraid?' asked David. 'God is on our side!'

The soldiers brought David to King Saul. 'This boy wants to fight the giant!'

'You?' laughed King Saul. 'You're just a boy! Goliath is a mighty warrior!'

'I fought lions and bears to protect my sheep,' said David. 'God helped me then. He will help me now!'

King Saul looked at David's brave face. 'Go,' he said. 'And may God be with you.'

'Wait!' said the King. 'You must wear my armor!' He put his helmet on David's head.

But the armor was way too big! David could barely walk! 'I can't wear this,' he said.

David took off the heavy armor. 'I'll fight my own way,' he said with a smile.

David walked to a little stream. He knelt down and looked at all the smooth stones.

He picked up one... two... three... four... five smooth stones. Just right for his sling.

David put the stones in his shepherd's bag. He held his sling tight. He was ready.

David walked toward the valley. Each step was brave. Each step trusted God.

Goliath saw David coming. The giant laughed! 'They send a little boy to fight me?'

'Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?' Goliath shouted angrily.

'You come with a sword and spear,' David called out. His voice was strong and clear.

'But I come in the name of God! Today everyone will know that God saves His people!'

Goliath roared with rage! He stomped toward David, shaking the ground!

David didn't run. He put a stone in his sling. He began to swing it round and round.

WHOOSH! David let go! The stone flew through the air like lightning!

THUD! The stone hit Goliath right on the forehead! The giant fell down with a CRASH!

Goliath was defeated! Little David had beaten the giant!

The Israelite army cheered! 'David! David! David!' The Philistines ran away in fear!

King Saul hugged David. 'You saved us all! God truly is with you!'

Everyone celebrated the brave shepherd boy who trusted God.

And David went home to his sheep, knowing that with God, even the smallest person can do the biggest things. The End.
